(re)connect

The (re)connect aspect of biomimicry is about regaining the understanding and recognition that two “separate” identities (i.e., people and nature) are actually deeply intertwined. There is no “us” and “them.” We are nature. (Re)connecting is a practice and a mindset that explores this relationship between humans and the rest of nature.

biomimicrySA runs a number of expedition workshops that integrate deep exploration of nature’s genius in place as part of the workshop. We also recommend the following opportunities for a reconnection experience:

Purely Wild Wilderness Encounters

Purely Wild Journeys include The Solo, The Wilderness Trail, The Deep Wilderness Experience with intensive facilitation and, by arrangement, custom expeditions. Groups leave whatever we can behind, sleep without a tent, next to a fire, and take turns keeping watch. These trails are offered in some of southern Africa’s wildest spaces including the Imfolozi, Drakensberg, Kalahari, Okavango delta and the Cederberg.

EcoTraining Courses

Established in 1993 with a mission to raise the standard of guiding in Africa, EcoTraining is the pioneer and leader of professional Field Guide and other nature training program. For more than a decade, they have been sending people of all ages into the African wilderness to learn about the environment in exciting, in-depth and sensitive ways and to find out what it really takes to become a game ranger or a field guide.
