WORKSHOPS:

We offer tailor-made workshops for your organisation related to innovation/sustainability/systems thinking using the tools of biomimicry. The workshops can include the option to use the biomimicry approach in solving for a specific design challenge related to your company/product/organisational structure/sustainability, etc. These can be in your backyard or at an expedition site of your choice and range from half day to week-long sessions. There is also the choice of a learning journey of a series of workshops over time, building your teams biomimicry capabilities and working with our team towards innovative solutions.

SCOPING:

We can help you realise existing and future biomimicry opportunities for your organisation through a customised scoping review of biomimetic products and processes, current and in development, relevant to your organisation or industry.

BIOMIMICRY BRAINSTORMS:

Together with your in-house team, we can help brainstorm and research biological strategies relevant to specific design challenge(s) and facilitate the biomimicry design process in your organisation. Our team is also available to bring biomimicry expertise to your in-house design charettes and innovation processes. We can also coordinate and facilitate design charettes for your organisation.

DEEP RESEARCH:

Our team of biomimicry professionals, biologists, engineers, designers, architects and innovators can undertake deep research for your organisation. We can undertake a comprehensive survey of nature’s strategies relevant to your design challenge/field of interest and provide a summary of solutions relevant to your specific challenge(s). We can also provide more detail on the most promising strategy and a development plan for implementation.

GENIUS OF PLACE REVIEW:

For site-specific design challenges, particularly in the built environment, our Genius of Place review brings an understanding of the pre-tested, locally attuned strategies adopted by the local organisms specific to a specific design challenge. We translate these well-adapted, innovative and sustainable strategies into specific potential design applications for your green building, landscaping, etc.

LIFE'S PRINCIPLES:

Life’s Principles outline strategies for thriving under the operating conditions on Earth. By incorporating these principles into an organisation’s design methodologies and system strategies, the resulting integrated strategies are inherently sustainable because they follow the same principles that allow life to thrive. They're also a set of innovation principles that are beneficial to any organisation/design whether you're focused on sustainability or not. They're also one of the best Systems Thinking supertools. Any of the above options can include Life's Principles (e.g. workshop on Life's Principles alone or integrated into a learning journey of workshops, including Life's Principles in our scoping/research/brainstorms, etc.). We can also provide a specific service of performing a Life's Principles evaluation for your organisation/specific product/process/system/challenge, etc).

BIOMIMICRY THINKING:

The biomimicry tools and process for approaching design, shift perspectives and open up new opportunities for how to solve and dissolve design challenges. A 1-day workshop as a broad overview introducing Biomimicry Thinking & Biomimicry Systems Thinking based on the genius of nature’s systems. This workshop includes:

• Discovering the genius of nature’s systems

• Exploring biomimicry case studies around systems

• Mini design challenge based on systems

LEARNING JOURNEY:

We offer a Learning Journey process for training key staff members in the practice of biomimicry and biomimicry thinking. This involves a series of workshops as well as mentoring from our team in using biomimicry in some application related to their work, e.g. new product/process/system design, etc. Through the learning journey of a series of workshops over time, you can build your teams biomimicry capabilities.
