school curriculum

Since 2009, we have been providing biomimicry training for educators and scholars in south africa. Some teachers, schools and organisations have made a real effort to integrate biomimicry into their curriculum. Some of which we know about, others that we don't.

schools we work with

A leader in integrating biomimicry into the (IEB High School) curriculum is Claire Weerepas - head of Life Sciences at St.Alban's College in Pretoria. She received the global biomimicry award in 2013 as "biomimicry educator of the year". Many IEB schools have followed her lead in ensuring biomimicry is part of the curriculum, including Michaelhouse, Hilton and Bishops. Other schools who have attended biomimicry educator training include Crawford College La Lucia, Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls, Durban Girls College, and many more. Organisations that teach biomimicry as part of environmental education include WESSA, RandWater, City of Cape Town EE, etc.

please contact us

We receive emails weekly from scholars and educators asking about biomimicry - whether to include it in a project, or wondering how to learn it, make it a career or teach it. Please contact us if your are interested in learning or teaching biomimicry. Please also let us know if you are already teaching biomimicry. You can find out more about what other biomimicry educators are doing at the Global Biomimicry Educators Network website

Note our workshops are open to high school scholars at discounted rates. We also offer a biomimikids program in some areas for younger kids. We also offer support for home-schoolers which will be further facilitated through our  online training
